Choose a Windows PC for your document volume
Baseline guidance
Use Windows 10/11 64-bit, 4 CPU cores, 8 GB RAM, and at least 10 GB of free SSD space.
Large mixed collections
For tens of thousands of mixed Office and PDF documents, use 8 CPU cores, 16 GB or more RAM, and an NVMe SSD.
GPU and network
A dedicated GPU is optional. At startup, Orbivell measures compatible devices and uses one for OCR image preprocessing only when it provides a real gain; otherwise it automatically keeps the same CPU path. Accuracy-sensitive PaddleOCR recognition remains on the CPU. Local-only mode works offline, while optional external AI, account, and update operations require HTTPS.
The 4-core/8 GB profile is operating guidance, not a measured minimum guarantee for every corpus. For large folders, first validate indexing time and storage with a representative sample.

Image and OCR boundary
Standalone PNG, JPG, JPEG, TIF, TIFF, BMP, and WebP document images, image-only PDFs, and images embedded in supported documents can use the local PaddleOCR runtime when installed and enabled. Low-confidence results can be reviewed, corrected, and reprocessed. GIF, HEIC, and video are not supported; external OCR and automatic cloud upload are not used.
Encrypted, DRM-protected, corrupt, or executable-macro/external-object-dependent content may not be processed. Originals remain unchanged and a per-format failure or review state is retained.

Measured on 2026-08-15 with a Release build, Windows 11 Home 22631, Intel Core i7-1260P (12 cores/16 logical processors), 32 GB RAM, and 2 TB NVMe SSD.

These figures are not guarantees for every PC or corpus. Initial indexing, OCR, and startup vary with file size and format, SSD, antivirus activity, power, and thermal conditions. The first full validation of the 2.84 GB database took 105.7 seconds, and safety validation runs again after the database changes. The 8.24 ms figure is the median warm p95 measured repeatedly through the actual service path on a frozen index, not total screen response time.
COMMON QUESTIONS
Local boundaries, setup, and recovery
Does an AI question send entire source files?
Originals, search data, and work history stay on the PC. External AI questions send only the question and source excerpts you confirm. Receiving selected files on Pro mobile follows a separate approval flow.
Does search stop during a Web outage?
Local document search, indexing, and work history remain available. External AI and account features may be affected.
Does revoking a device delete local data?
No. It revokes server AI authorization only. Local data removal is a separate action in the PC app.
How do I get started?
Add a folder in the Windows app's Material Library. Once it is ready, ask a question on Home and check the source evidence. Continue document creation in Work Studio and revisit previous results in Work History.
When can a NAS or dedicated-server edition start?
Ready-to-deliver editions are available. Use the inquiry form to share your NAS or file-server environment, document and user volume, and authorization and security needs. The production transition date is confirmed after environment review and agreed validation.
